On a rainy Sunday in 1969, they rallied 2,000 like-minded people to walk nearly 30 miles—the first Walk for Hunger and pledge walk in the country—raising $26,000 in pledges which funded two anti-hunger programs in Boston. Their steps had an immediate impact in making a difference in people's lives. And the rest...well, the rest is history.

From that year on, the 1st Sunday in May has been a call to action for residents of Massachusetts. Over the past 50 years, the Walk for Hunger has provided 1 billion meals to hungry people in our state and has been a vehicle to raise awareness and funds to support and expand community solutions to hunger throughout the state.

Walk for Hunger will be celebrating their 51st year of raising awareness about hunger and generating funds to support programs across Massachusetts that help residents access food. The 20mile walk will also be accompanied by a 5K run and walk through the Back Bay.
