WHEN: Saturday, May 19th, 2018   (Rain or shine!)

 

WHERE: Franklin Park - Starting Line is at the Giraffe Entrance to the Zoo (Playstead & Pierpont Rd)

WHY: Playworks New England creates a safe, inclusive school environment that allows kids to learn, play and thrive. This year, Playworks is serving 65,000 students in 120 primarily low-income elementary schools, teaching valuable skills like teamwork and cooperation while reducing conflict, restoring learning time, and increasing physical activity! (If you can't run, you can still sponsor a student from one of our schools!)

 

COURSE OPTIONS: There will be a 1 Mile Fun Run (Pavement and Grass) and a 5K Cross Country Run (Pavement, Grass and Trails)

 

REGISTRATION:  To register before the event, please complete the Registration Form and mail it along with your check to 67 Kemble St Suite 3.6, Boston, MA.  You can alternately register online at playworks.org/ne-run2018. Registration will also be available the day of the event starting at 8:30 a.m.  If the participant is under 18 years old, a parent/guardian must sign the registration form.

  • If you want the fee to go immediately to a specific Playworks school, be sure to indicate that on the registration form and write your check payable to that school.

  • If you want the fee to go to Playworks to support all programming, do not indicate a school and write your check payable to Playworks

 

EVENT SCHEDULE:     8:30 a.m. – Registration Opens & Bib Pick Up

    10:00 a.m. – 1 Mile Fun Run Begins

    10:30 a.m. – 5K Cross Country Run Begins

                                        11:30 a.m. – Awards & Raffles

    12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Recess celebration


PARKING/TRANSPORTATION: There is free public parking in Franklin Park.  Spots become limited as the park fills up so allow plenty of time before the start of the run.  Franklin Park is accessible on public transportation.  

  • Take the Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Forest Hills then the number 16 Bus to Franklin Park Zoo.  

  • Take the Orange Line or Commuter Rail to Ruggles Station then take the number 22, 28, 29, 44 or 45 Bus to Franklin Park Zoo.  

  • Take the Red Line to Andrew Station then the number 16 Bus to Franklin Park Zoo.

 

AFTER-RACE RECESS CELEBRATION:  Please join us for recess from 12-1 to celebrate a great event. Recess is on the baseball field in the middle of the course. Bring your own picnic, Playworks will bring the games!
